Avant Garde Dance (UK)
Avant Garde Dance is a London based company who are at the forefront of innovative hip hop / contemporary dance theatre, led by Artistic Director Tony Adigun.The company's previous work has covered a myriad of themes and styles from the international touring production, The Silver Tree - a hip hop circus work with the discipline of Chinese Pole, to The Bunker Thing – an immersive site specific experience in a World War II bunker, which was funded by British Dance Edition 2012. The company receive lots of interest from both hip hop and contemporary dance circles and has produced work for The Place, Sadler's Wells, Southbank Centre, Barbican, Brighton Dome and East London Dance at Stratford Circus. Avant Garde Dance was an East London Dance Associate Company from 2009-12 and Tony is a Work Place Artist at The Place.
Tony Adigun's iconic choreography and style has resulted in workshop and performance commissions worldwide including Vietnam, America, Poland, Russia, Portugal and many other countries. Commercially he has choreographed and performed with top artists from the UK and America including Janet Jackson, Usher, Ashanti, Mel B, JoJo, Cheryl Cole and Whitney Houston. As a freelance choreographer Tony was commissioned to choreograph as part of Big Dance 2008, was co-choreographer on the Royal Opera House Education and East London Dance production of The Last Genie, was commissioned by The Place to create a new work for EDge graduate touring company and has been commissioned by Remarkable Productions to create outdoor site specific work Taxi which was chosen for Decibel 2011.
