Jackin the Box (UK)

In 2010, all female dance group, Jackin the Box was formed by artistic director Ashley Jack.

Coming from different backgrounds in dance they all share the same love for Hip Hop culture. The group focus on developing Hip Hop Theatre and have performed at events such as: Just Jam, Skill Masters and Survival of the Sickest. Their theatre credits include: Edinburgh's Festival Theatre  -  Breakin' Convention '10, Newcastle's Dance City  - Public Announcement 2011, Dundee Rep Theatre - Breakin' Rules 2011 and 2012 also in 2012, Jackin the Box have travelled to Macrobert Centre, Stirling and to the North of Scotland performing their shows, teaching workshops and sharing their knowledge to inspire.  

Ashley Jack was introduced to the Hip Hop culture at the age of 17 and immediately found where she belonged. Since then, she has travelled to New York, Paris, Holland and many other locations, to train, learn, be part of the underground scene and to be influenced by the pioneers in house, Hip Hop, popping and locking. Learning her history and foundations and applying it to her practice, Ashley continues to bring knowledge and experiences back to Scotland.

Ashley recently was part of Breakin' Conventions project Back to the Lab.
