Jane Sekonya (South Africa)

Born and bred in Katlehong-Johannesburg Jane Sekonya began her career training at the Johannesburg Dance Foundation in 1988 before gaining a scholarship at Ballet Rambert School of Dance in London during 1994.

Jane is among a rare breed of performing artists. She fuses popular cultures, by experimenting with the variables of dance in the genres of ballet, contemporary, kwaito, gumboot dance, krumping, traditional African, hip hop and Afro-Caribbean dance styles to bring her unique craft to the cutting edge of audience, dancers and dance theatres around the world. The unparalleled ability of 'subtle exploding dynamite' is descriptive of Jane's "AFROFUZE."
