Jo Read

Jo Read is a choreographer, teacher and researcher in the dance field. She holds a BA hons Dance and Culture (1st Class) and an MA (dist) in Dance Cultures Histories and Practices from the University of Surrey, and has just begun PhD research in the area exploring her current choreographic practices in relation to narrative at De Montfort University funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

Jo became the Associate Emerging Artist for Woking Dance Festival in January 2011 and has been commissioned to develop two pieces, and she also recently performed a solo improvisational piece for the Festival choreographed by Robert Hylton. She focuses on hip hop and other street dance forms and currently works as a part time Lecturer in Dance at Kingston University, as well as teaching classes and workshops for other organisations in the community.
