Jonzi D is the Artistic Director of Breakin' Convention and Jonzi D Projects. He has been actively involved in British Hip Hop culture, rapping and b-boying since its genesis in the early eighties.
Since graduating from the London Contemporary Dance School, Jonzi has been committed to the development of hip hop theatre, creating Lyrikal Fearta in 1995, and Aeroplane Man in 1999. He was an Associate Artist at The Place Theatre and has performed and created dance theatre pieces all over Europe, North America, Russia, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Cuba, Uganda, and Southern Africa. Recent works include TAG... Just Writing My Name and Markus The Sadist, featuring Bashy, Lyrikal Fearta: Redux and The Letter.
As an emcee Jonzi has worked with The Roots, Steve Williamson, MC Mell'o', Wordsworth, Hymphatic Thabs, and toured europe with Jeru Da Damaja and Gangstarr in the early nineties.

The UK hip hop theatre pioneer is back! With Ivan Blackstock, music from Kwake Bass, plus special local guest performers nightly.
Jonzi D presents a triple bill, including a return of his acclaimed solo work The Letter, after its explosive debut last year in London and new collaborative work Broken Lineage with Ivan Blackstock of BirdGang Dance Company, continuing 3 decades as a pioneering creative voice in hip hop dance theatre.
The evening also features a newly commissioned piece, exploring the broken lineage between the old skool and new skool hip hop generations, bringing Jonzi's unique perspective to evolving social issues. An exciting collaboration with Ivan Blackstock, of BirdGang Dance Company, it promises to captivate audiences with Jonzi's trademark wit, humour and style.
The Letter explores the responses to Jonzi being offered an MBE. Using choreopoetry he paints a picture of "stunning, rhythmical clarity" (The Stage), looking at this sensitive subject matter through the eyes of an animated cast of characters.
