JP Omari is the founder and director of Streetfunk, a Hip Hop dance school / company he set up to teach young people, from the tender age of four, and adults to dance and share his passion. Born and raised in Rome, JP has created his own unique energetic style, drawing from a rich and eclectic range of musical influences.
His belief in dancing with funk, "flava" and having fun; in achievement through respect, discipline and hard work; and in the art form of Hip Hop, has helped Streetfunk to become one of the biggest Hip Hop schools in the South East spreading across Brighton and Hove, Portslade and Lewes (East Sussex).
JP performs, teaches, hosts events and judges throughout the UK and internationally, working with: The Floor Crusaders – an award winning UK breakdance crew; SickStep - the famous American hip hop dance crew; The Urban Playground - who combine Parkour with dance in site-specific street performance working with two of the artform’s creators and; Urban Strides (UK’s Streetdance specialists). He has also performed for chart topping artists Dizzee Rascal and Sean Paul.
The winner of Vauxhall Tribes Regional Hip Hop Competition 2006 and their National Competition in 2007; choreographer of a short dance film for Channel 4; JP is also known as a competitor from BBC1’s 2006 series Strictly Dance Fever.
