Kwame Asafo-Adjei is the artistic director, founder and choreographer of Spoken Movement, a company formed of three talented dancers that have taken the elements of street dance and abstract movement to create their own movement. Using different genres of music, Spoken Movement look to push boundaries by undertaking concepts, issues and day-to-day life to create pieces of work.
A Spoken Movement rehearsal is very important due to the physical aspect. The rehearsal usually commences with a workshop which is really intense and active, exploring and using the space allows the dancers to create work for upcoming shows. Venues like Royal Festival Hall helped Spoken Movement create work for shows like Breakin' Convention 2012 at Sadler's Wells, Blueprint 2013 and Callabo 2013 at Stratford Circus.
Spoken Movement intend to implement and convey their style of dance to a wider audience by provoking a guttural response, to inspire and aspire the youth and public through innovative dance.
Experience and performances: Breakin' Convention 2012, Open Art Surgery (12, 13), Collabo (2013) KIM (11/12), Choreo Master (2nd place), Live Vibe (2013) and Royal Mail (2013).
