Tabu Flo (Uganda)
Tabu Flo formed in 2007 when the dancers met at Break Dance Project Uganda(BPU). BPU is an organization that uses break dance and other elements of hip hop for positive social change. They give free breakdance classes to the youth all over the country including orphanages, juvenile prisons, ghettos, schools and working with NGOs.
Members have traveled to Denmark, Poland, Germany, Tanzania, DRC and the USA using dance as a means of connection and cross-cultural exchange. They are engaged in other styles including African, dance hall, afrobeat, and contemporary dance. Tabu Flo holds the title of Uganda’s best dance group after winning the Mirinda Loosen Up competition 2010 among other awards.
