Apply for Back to the Lab 2018

Back to the Lab is Breakin' Convention's choreographic course designed to explore new ways of approaching choreography, direction and staging to give you the means to approach your work from fresh and new angles without losing the essence of what you do. We are also offering one place to a choreographer from outside of the UK.

Breakin' Convention is proud to offer four hip hop choreographers a unique opportunity to go Back To The Lab. Participants, along with up to four of their own dancers, will work with dance heavyweights, Jonzi D, Breakin' Convention's artistic director, and Jonathan Burrows over two exciting weeks of mentoring, experimenting and devising.

The first week will involve Jonzi D and Jonathan Burrows introducing choreographers to the foundations of creating fresh, new, convention breaking work, while during week two participants will be joined by Ivan Blackstock and Anthony Ekundayo-Lennon who will shape work into a work in progress performance to be shown in front of an audience at the end of the week.
