Open Art Surgery
Open Art Surgery (formerly The Surgery) offers Hip Hop theatre performers and companies (dancers, musicians, emcees and visual artists) the opportunity to develop and experiment with new ideas, share new work publicly and receive mentorship from Jonzi D and other Hip Hop Theatre aficionados.
You will spend one week workshopping and devising and Jonzi D will be on hand to inspire, advise and offer support. With no pressure on an end product, Open Art Surgery allows artists to take creative risks, try something different or to test ideas.
What makes Open Art Surgery especially exciting is the sharing at the end of the week. Hosted by Jonzi and taking place in an intimate theatre space, Open Art Surgery breaks down the fourth wall and invites the audience to question and critique the new work shown. This gives artists a unique opportunity to test the water and equally interesting gives audience members the opportunity to get inside the minds of the artists.
