Who is this course for?
Higher Learning: Get Technical is for all hip hop artists who want to bring amazing theatrical showmanship to their performance. While focused on dancers, Get Technical will cover all the necessary knowledge for rappers, spoken word artists or performance poets too.
What will I learn on this day?
You will learn everything you may want to know for almost any performance space! This includes technical names for everything you’ll find in a theatre or on a stage environment, an explanation of lighting and how to use it most effectively, and audio/visual so your show sounds its best. By the end, you should be confident ahead of any performance, technical rehearsal or live gig.

Breakin’ Convention wants to equip any hip hop artist who wants to bring their idea to life on stage with the skills, knowledge and technical knowledge to allow that to happen. In addition, Get Technical is essential for all artists who will be performing at a Breakin’ Convention performance, and to help any artist get the most out of limited tech times or soundchecks.

Higher Learning is a hip hop theatre education and development programme committed to the development of the genre. Lead by a range of industry specialists through intensive workshops, courses and educational days.
