The team works to produce their annual festival of hip hop dance theatre at Sadler's Wells which brings together a range of people and artists of varying ages and nationalities to both perform and participate. In addition to this, the team manages a year round programme of activity, educational events and online video channel. The festival also tours nationwide and internationally, and has a strong professional development programme for choreographers, as well as specific projects for young people.  Breakin' Convention has a strong legacy of supporting the development of work by UK artists, many of whom have produced notable work, both in the UK and internationally.

Sadler's Wells is a world-leading dance house, presenting a year-round programme of dance of every kind to annual audiences of over half a million on its three London stages: Sadler's Wells' theatre (1,500 seats), the Lilian Baylis Studio (180 seats) and The Peacock (1,000 seats). It also commissions and produces cutting-edge original work and tours it to arts venues in the UK and overseas. Sadler's Wells supports 16 world-class Associate Artists, three Resident Companies and one Associate Company, who represent the most exciting talent working in dance today and are at the heart of its vision and artistic programme.

We are looking for an Education Officer who will be responsible for developing and supporting all Breakin' Convention's activities with young people, schools and other organisations.  The person will be a key member of the team in helping to develop and research new opportunities arising from the launch of the new Hip Hop Academy, due to open in Stratford by 2020. The successful candidate will work with the team to deliver existing projects and to create new relationships around the country as part of the Breakin' Convention national tour which will take place in 2016 and 2017.

A decade ago no one would have suspected Sadler's Wells to house so much hip hop dance alongside ballet and contemporary. But it's 2015 out here, and times have moved on! Breakin' Convention has been live and in full effect the past 12 years, and has uncovered some boundary-pushing choreographers and companies, all of whom will be at Sadler's Wells and The Peacock this season and putting hip hop theatre in effect!

If you've been to Breakin' Convention you may recognise some of the following companies. We're proud to be collaborating, partnering and presenting them as leading theatre makers, so be sure to support and show love to them all.

Wildcard: Botis Seva: InNoForm

Artistic director of Far From The Norm, Botis Seva follows in the steps of BirdGang's Ivan Blackstock in securing a Wildcard evening in the Lilian Baylis Studio.

In Sadler's Wells' pioneering Wildcard series Botis will be handed the keys to the studio to create, perform and programme what he likes in a night of his own unique, abstract hip hop dance interpretations.

Like Ivan, Botis partook in our first Back to the Lab professional development course for hip hop dancers, and continues to test the waters then dive into the deep end of theatrical experimentation.

Wildcard takes place on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 September at the Lilian Baylis, Sadler's Wells, presented in partnership with Breakin' Convention.

Sebastien Ramirez & Honji Wang: Breakin' Convention presents: Borderline

Sebastien and Honji - the unforgettably mesmerising duo from Breakin' Convention 2011 (Amor & Psyche), 2012 (AP15) and later winning a Bessie Award for their performance of AP15 at Breakin' Convention 2013 at the Apollo Theater, will be performing on Sadler's Wells' main stage.

Featuring a cast of six dancers Borderline will include elements of breaking, aerial tricks and contemporary dance that show just how far concepts of hip hop and theatre can be pushed.

Borderline takes place on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 October at Sadler's Wells.

Zoonation: Into the Hoods

The Kate Prince's acclaimed take of Sondheim's Into the Woods set in the Ruff Endz Estate will be revamped, re-staged, and remixed with an up-to-date soundtrack and brand new cast.

Originally presented by Breakin' Convention, Into the Hoods premiered at the Peacock Theatre with ZooNation and Impact Dance's Underworld in 2006, going on to become one of the Novello Theatre's longest running shows and a precursor to the UK street dance movies and TV talent contests.

Into the Hoods: REMIXED will be at the Peacock Theatre, 23 October - 14 November 2015.
