Anthony Ekundayo Lennon

Anthony trained at Weekend Arts College, Old Vic/Lyric Youth Theatres and Double Edge. He’s been staff director at the National Theatre and when associate director at Talawa he successfully completed artistic director training whilst simultaneously being assistant director for Nikolai Foster’s musical An Officer and a Gentleman.

Anthony directed the sell-out production of Hatch (Talawa) and his re-visioning of Othello set in a world of ‘black ops’, eavesdropping and surveillance. He’s a leading co-mentor for Open Art Surgery & Back to the Lab (Breakin’ Convention) with other career highlights including assistant director for the Black cast production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof directed by Debbie Allen and assisting Iqbal Khan on his historically ground-breaking production of Othello with the RSC.

He was recently appointed associate director at Lyrici Arts theatre company, preparing to direct new works related to their Homeward academy, a co-dramaturge for Ivan Blackstock’s Traplord, recently directed Layla’s Room for ArtsEd drama school and was co-director of Slumlord at Theatre Peckham.

Anthony’s a guest speaker, workshop facilitator and educator in relation to exploring ‘race’, identity, culture, positive self-reflection, empowerment and authentic human connection/empathy.
